Length hairstory - 2014: past mid-thigh and towards knee

This is the fifth in a series of individual posts about my hair growing milestones over the years, featuring a pic spam of length shots xD You can also find an abridged version of my hair journey from 2010 to the present in the 'My hairstory' page.

Previous post: 2010 hair (tailbone length), 2011 hair (classic length), 2012 hair (fingertip length), 2013 hair (mid-thigh).

In 2014 I continued growing my hair with minimal microtrims, surpassing mid-thigh and creeping ever closer to knee 😃 (which I reached in May 2015). I also attended my very first LHC hair meet in London during the Summer 😄, and cosplayed Lúthien for the first time 💙. While 2015-16 would mark my knee milestone, but also the worst  hemline I've had in years due to a harsher shedding resulting from vitamin deficiencies (which are now under supplemental control 😅), in 2014 this shed wasn't as noticeable yet, and my hemline stayed pretty good throughout the year, considering I only went for microtrims as my main goal was to reach knee.  I've had in years  Monthly pic spam incoming!

  • January: I reached mid-thigh in October 2013, and in January 2014 I had already surpassed mid-thigh, with the yearly goal of continuing to grow towards knee. These are my fave pics in 2014 regarding the hemline 🤩- I had spent a while first maintaining at fingertip, and then a bit at mid-thigh as well, in order to thicken it up and also even it out a bit (this is completely subjective, and fairytale hair is beautiful as well as I've worn it fairytaled a lot too, but my favourite kind of hemline is the straight, blunt one):
January 2013 (just past fingertip), to October 2013 (mid-thigh), to January 2014 (past mid-thigh).

January 2012 vs January 2014 comparison, from past fingertip to past mid-thigh

January 27 length shot, with a hemline I was really happy with. I also love how red the ends came out in the pic!

I was torn between maintaining here or growing to knee and then maintaining - because it was so close already! So I ended up doing a couple of microtrims, and kept growing to knee.
  •  April:  After a microtrim in February, length is still on its way past mid-thigh to knee, and the hemline is still looking good to me 😊. Also, some of these length shots still look darker red because of the remaining dye from my Manic Panic 'Vampire Red' vegetal dyeing adventure back in 2013 xD
  • May: All lengh shots from May include braidwaves and bendy rollers curls, and most of them accompany my Lúthien cosplay debut 😄💙:

And another length pic featuring heatless texture: braidwaves and curls with bendy foam rollers:

Length shot group at the LHC meet in London

Length shot with fellow longhair Piffyanne (I think she's no longer on the forum?). We had roughly the same length, with mine being just a little bit longer xD
  •  September: Edging closer to knee! Only have some length shots with a black skirt and a mix of some braidwaves and my natural texture in the ends, though xD

  • December:  More Lúthien length shots for the end of 2014, and also featuring heatless braidwaves and bendy rollers curls. Wavy and curly ends of course make the length look shorter than it actually is, but no actual length shots from either May or December from 2014, I'm afraid xD

Contrary to rag/bandanna curls, bendy rollers curls tend to make my hemline look less thick than it actually is, with these kind of curls making the hair clump more.

So, now quite close to knee, I had the plan of getting there, and then maintainig at knee to thicken up the hemline again, as I'd done at classic, fingertip and mid-thigh. Depending on the state of my ends and the shape of my hemline by then, I was even considering a bit chop from knee back to mid-thigh or fingertip to get rid of most of the damage in the ends (and then either growing to knee again or maintaining at mid-thigh as the goal length) - I did start doing bigger trims in late 2017, after the bid shed of 2015-16 😅. But before that - 2015 and knee-length!

Length hairstory - 2013 and mid-thigh

You can find an abridged version of my hair journey from 2010 to the present in the 'My hairstory' page. This is the fourth in a series of individual posts about my hair growing milestones over the years, plus a pic spam of length shots xD

Previous post: 2010 hair (tailbone length),  2011 hair (classic length), 2012 hair (fingertip length).

After 2012 and fingertip length, in October 2013 I reached mid-thigh, maintaining a reasonably good hemline, with microtrims in-between. Mini pic spam!

  • January: Under fingertip length. I really like the contrast between the indirect light and the direct sunlight on the ends in the second pic.

  • October: Finally reached solid mid-thigh!

  •  October: Length shots with my Noldorin Elf OC cosplay for a Tolkien convention. First ones are with my natural straight texture, the last one features braidwaves and bandanna curls at the ends:

  • December: Ending this post with a length shots with some bandanna curls -

Length hairstory - 2012 and fingertip

You can find an abridged version of my hair journey from 2010 in the 'My hairstory' page. This is the third in a series of individual posts that's basically about a bit more detail about my hair growing over the years, plus a pic spam of length shots xD

Previous post: 2011 hair (classic length).

2012 was the year I reached fingertip (in between classic and mid-thigh, it's the length where you stretch your arm straight at the side and your hair reaches the tip of your fingers):

I regained a bit more thickness during this year, although I still wanted to thicken up the hemline (that hasn't really changed throughout the years, really, I'm always wanting a thicker hemline :S xDD). But overall this was a pretty good year hairwise - I'm actually back at fingertip now, after the big trim a couple of months ago from knee, and I'm looking at the 2011-12 pics for inspiration xD Hoping to start experimenting more with texture and styles now that I'm more comfortable with how the hemline is looking :)

But let's proceed with the 2012 pic spam xD (also featuring the way auburn hair changes hue with the lighting xD):
  • February:
  •  March: Length shots (plus heatless bun waves) from a test for a show organized by my Irish group for Saint Patrick's Day (I reenacted an Irish Queen of the Sidhe from the story of Oisín and Niamh). One of my favourite hair days, both regarding length shots, and bunwaves (original updo was a seashell bun) ^^
  • April: Finally reached fingertip! (and have a blurry pic to prove it xDD)

  • May: Two length shots featuring heatless texture experiments (braidwaves+bandanna curls/rag curls in the ends):

  • June: Just a length pic -

  • July: July 2012 has some of my favourite length shot hair pics :) Also involving my (Elven) ranger cosplay WIP with that leather jerkin :D xD
One of my favourite hair pics ^^

Next stop - 2013 and mid-thigh!

Length hairstory - 2011 and classic

You can find an abridged version of my hair journey from 2010 in the 'My hairstory' page. This is the first of a series of individual posts that's basically about a bit more detail about my hair growing over the years, plus a pic spam of length shots xD
Previous post: 2010 hair.

Now back into haircare thanks to the Long Hair Community (I always kept my hair free of tangles, microtrimmed from time to time and found out about aloe vera, and cassia and tea-rinses), my goal in 2011 was to grow the shortest parts of my uneven hemline to classic and then trim my hair in a straight hemline. Thanks to my new haircare routine, I slowly regained most of the thickness I had lost 'thanks to' my not-so-benign neglect of the few years before, and finally achieved a blunt hemline at classic in August 2011 :D. I was really happy with my hair at this point (and I've recently achieved a similar hemline by cutting from knee to fingertip after going through a pretty bad shedding during 2016):

This pic from August 2011 is officially one of my fave hair pics:
Pic spam of 2011 in hair:

  • January-February 2011: A little more than a month after I joined LHC, the longest parts of my hair got to classic length. But my hemline was too uneven to my liking because of a former inexperienced microtrim. Already regaining quite a lot of lost thickness back (taking good care of your hair really does wonders):
  •  April 2011: I must have microtrimmed the side a bit by this time, because the hemline was looking a bit straighter in Spring 2011 pics, but it became quite uneven again by June:

  • June 2011: As you can see (if you can with that horrible lighting xDD), my hemline had become quite uneven again. I decided to wait until all the shortest parts of my hair reached solid classic before trimming the hemline, though:

More June 2011 pics:

  • July 2011: Uneven part of the hemline can't be seen from this angle (the perspective of quite a lot of 2011 pics are fooling me with the uneven hemline business xD), but very nearly at classic (with the longer part of the hemline already past it):

  • August 2011: Trimmed the hemline at solid classic (approx. 1"). Before the trim, the left part of which had been a bit past classic and the right part nearly at fingertip!  Personally, I think my hair, which is naturally not very voluminous even if ii/iii in density, looks the best with a blunt hemline like this one, it's when it looks thicker:
July - August - September 2011

  • September 2011: Did a cassia treatment:

  • November-December 2011

Braidwaves and bandanna/rag curls in the ends:

  • December 2011:Still maintaining at classic. By then, my next goal was fingertip.

Druidess willow headdress test :D

Next stop - 2012 and fingertip!
